Yesterday (Tues. 12/22) Ian went on a "discovery" walk with Jasmine and Genevieve. I want them to comment on the success of the walk. I'll just share what I witnessed before they left. Ian had been joyfully playing and splashing in the hot tub water while Lane and Aunt Linda soaked. Ian also became soaked so thus needed a change of clothes. He patiently let Genevieve and Jasmine change him and despite shivering, when they opened the gate and said "Let's go for a walk," his face lit up and he had a big smile! Then they departed and the next part I'll let them share. They returned so excited!
(Genevieve's comments)
Ian did such an amazing job on the walk, I was so proud of him! At first he seemed nervous, the surroundings were new to him so naturally he became a little shy and reverted back to what was comfortable and static for him (digging in the dirt). Jasmine and I were happy to let him explore the dirt for a while, but after some gentle assurance that he was safe in the new environment he began to walk with confidence. He began to really absorb the new surroundings, and took in all the new sounds and sights. It was really quite interesting to watch him gain confidence so quickly. He was so happy and affectionate once he knew he was safe.
